Birthday tickets and other habits

How the ways people actually fill in a slip compare with what the machine has really produced.

People do not pick numbers at random. They pick birthdays, anniversaries, patterns down the slip, all-odd or all-even sets, and numbers that "feel due". Here is how those habits compare with what the machine has actually produced in 10,397 drawings.

Ticket habitShare of real drawings that match
Every number 31 or lower ("birthday" tickets)44.7%
All five odd2.3%
All five even2.3%
Two numbers in a row somewhere on the ticket46.6%
Five numbers in a row (1-2-3-4-5 style)1 drawing in 10,397

Birthday tickets

Because Fantasy 5 tops out at 36, birthday numbers cover most of the board, so a birthday ticket is not as unusual here as it is in Powerball: 44.7% of real drawings use only numbers 31 and under. The cost of birthdays is not the odds — it is the company. Dates cluster in the same low range for everyone, so a winning low combination is more likely to be shared.

All odd, all even, and neat patterns

All-odd drawings happen 2.3% of the time and all-even 2.3%. Five numbers in a row has happened 1 time in 10,397 drawings. These combinations are not "bad luck" — they pay exactly the same — they are simply rarer shapes than most people assume when they fill in a neat line.

The habit that is backwards

The most interesting line in the table is the consecutive pair. Players avoid 14-15 because it looks less random. The machine produces a consecutive pair in 46.6% of drawings — nearly half. Avoiding them on purpose makes a ticket look less like a real drawing, not more.

A useful cross-check

These shares are not a quirk of one record. There are 376,992 possible Fantasy 5 combinations, and 169,911 of them use only numbers 31 and under — 45.1%. The real record produced 44.7%. All-odd combinations work out at 2.3% by arithmetic against 2.3% observed. When the machine's output lands on the mathematics this closely, across ten thousand drawings, it is one more piece of evidence that the game is doing exactly what it claims to do.

Does any of this help?

Not with the odds. Every combination has the same chance, including 1-2-3-4-5. What these habits change is how many people you would share a prize with, and how closely your ticket resembles the shapes the game actually produces. Woozul builds tickets that sit inside those shapes — for interest, not for advantage.

Where the data comes from

Florida Lottery official Fantasy 5 results, 13,254 draws from 1989-05-02 to 2026-08-10, validated for completeness and tagged by matrix era and draw type. The figures on this page are produced by a script that runs against that record, so they can be recomputed from the same source at any time. Last updated September 22, 2026.

What this does not mean. Nothing on this page improves anyone's chance of winning. Every draw is independent, and a fair game cannot be beaten by studying it. We publish these results because they are true, including the parts that work against our own product.
